INSTRUCTIONS
1) Before installing the XFasten Fiberglass Tape, it
would be best to measure the strip sizes and
exact areas which you need to install the tape.
Make sure that the surfaces are dry and the
cement boards are clean and free of moisture
before installing the tape.
2) Pre-cut the tape based on your desired strip
lengths and sizes. You can use a sharp pair of
scissors or a cutter to cut the waterproofing tape.
Important: We can about your safety. Please be
careful in handling sharp objects. Make sure that
the blade’s sharp edge and direction of
operation are facing away from you while cutting.
3) Apply a liquid waterproofing membrane to
the surface and then put the waterproofing
membrane tape. You can use any liquid mem-
brane as the XFasten Waterproofing Membrane
Fabric Tape is built to be compatible with all
leading waterproofing membrane liquids. Make
sure to cover all seams, joints, and areas on your
wall with the membrane and the tape.
4) Finally, coat the tape with an additional layer
of the waterproofing liquid, forming a
liquid-tape-liquid trilayer.
5) Apply more tape strips as needed.
6) Let the tape and membrane cure and dry
overnight.
If you are having trouble separating the adhesive liner from the mounting tape, then you could use any flat tipped object, like your nail or a thin card to create an initially small gap that can be fully peeled to release the liner. Also, to improve the bonding strength, it is recommended to apply as much tape as possible as the surface area allows.
HOW TO: NEAT AND PROFESSIONAL SETUP
To achieve a cleaner and professional-looking ap-
plication, follow the following tips:
1) Cut the tape strips precisely to avoid overlapping
and uneven surfaces. If it can’t be avoided, then
apply more membrane liquid to conform the fabric’s shape with the wall.
2) Apply 2-3 layers of the tape for a stronger and
more waterproof application. Do not forget to
use a waterproofing membrane liquid every after
layer.
3) The XFasten Waterproofing Membrane Tape is
compatible with all leading waterproofing mem-
brane liquid brands such as RedGard and Laticrete.
MULTIPLE LAYER APPLICATION
You can also opt to apply multiple layers to in-
crease the waterproofing. If you are to do so,
apply the layers in varying and perpendicular
angles. By creating a criss-cross pattern for 2-3 la-
yers, you can produce support that is rigid.
